Loved by Millions Globally, Built for Malaysians: Why Xero Is Going All-In on Malaysia
Xero's LED trucks and billboards are hard to miss. Here's what's behind the campaign: a global platform trusted by millions, and features built for the way Malaysian businesses work.
If you've been on Malaysian roads lately, you've probably seen them: LED trucks and digital billboards in Xero blue, with lines like "Loved by millions globally. Built for Malaysians." and "From less than your daily nasi lemak."
It's one of the clearest signals yet that Xero sees Malaysia as a priority market. As a Xero Gold Partner in Kuala Lumpur, we've watched that commitment grow, from LHDN e-invoicing to local bank feeds and a plan priced for the smallest businesses. Here's what the campaign is really saying, and what it means for your business.
"Loved by millions globally": a brand you can build on
Xero was founded in New Zealand in 2006 and is listed on the Australian Securities Exchange. Today it's one of the world's leading cloud accounting platforms:
- Used by 5 million customers worldwide, with more than 250,000 accountants and bookkeepers on the platform.
- Growing fast: in the year to 31 March 2026, Xero's revenue grew 31% to NZ$2.75 billion, and subscribers passed 4.9 million.
- Independently audited security: Xero holds ISO/IEC 27001 certification for its information security management and publishes SOC 2 reports.
- One platform across borders: the same Xero runs in Malaysia, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, the UK, the US and beyond, so it grows with you when you expand.
For a Malaysian SME, that scale matters. You're choosing software that will keep being developed and supported for years, and that accountants, investors and partners already know.
"Built for Malaysians": what Xero has built here
A global brand only helps if the software fits local rules. Here's what Xero has built and launched for Malaysia.
1. LHDN e-invoicing, built in
Xero is a Peppol service provider accredited by MDEC, Malaysia's Peppol authority, and is Peppol-accredited in Malaysia, Singapore, Australia and New Zealand. Once you connect your business to MyInvois, Xero lets you:
- send individual e-invoices with a "Send as an e-invoice" option,
- tag transactions with e-invoice classification codes that are already set up in Xero, and
- generate consolidated monthly e-invoice drafts for filing.
Follow our step-by-step Xero e-invoice setup guide.
2. Xero Lite, made for micro businesses
On 20 May 2026 Xero launched Xero Lite in Malaysia: an entry-level plan for sole proprietors, side businesses and micro SMEs moving off spreadsheets and paper. It's e-invoicing ready and includes bank reconciliation, receipt capture and real-time reports.
3. Malaysian bank feeds
In 2025, Xero and RHB Bank launched an API-enabled bank feed that brings daily transactions into Xero automatically, at no extra cost and set up fully online. For banks without a direct feed, you can import statements in minutes. See how to import Malaysian bank statements into Xero.
4. SST and Malaysian tax
Set up SST tax rates, apply them on invoices and bills, and use Xero's reports to prepare your returns. Withholding tax and CP204 instalments can be managed in Xero too.
5. A local ecosystem of apps and advisors
Malaysian and regional apps plug straight into Xero, including Payboy and Talenox for HR and payroll, StoreHub and Eats365 for POS, and Airwallex for payments. At Xero's Asia Roadshow in Kuala Lumpur in November 2025, these partners joined Malaysia's accountants and bookkeepers, and the Malaysian Xero Partner Advisory Council, to talk about AI and e-invoicing.
"From less than your daily nasi lemak": is that true?
Yes, on Xero Lite. Malaysia subscriptions bought through Xero's website before 31 December 2026 get 50% off for 36 months, which brings Xero Lite to US$3.50 a month. That works out to roughly 50 sen a day, depending on the exchange rate. Less than a plate of nasi lemak.
As your business grows, you can move up to Starter, Standard (most SMEs) or Premium (multi-currency). See the current Xero Malaysia prices, or read which plan suits your business.
"Everything you need. Nothing you don't."
The campaign highlights four things. Here's what each one means day to day.
- Accounting: invoices, bills, bank reconciliation, expenses, projects and inventory in one place, with no per-user licence fees.
- Analytics: dashboards, cash flow forecasts and business snapshots, so you see where your money is going before it's a problem.
- E-invoicing: LHDN-compliant e-invoices from the same place you already invoice.
- Payments: accept online payments on your invoices and get paid up to twice as fast (processed by third-party payment providers).
And AI that does the busywork
Xero is investing heavily in AI. JAX, Xero's AI agent, is being rolled out to help with tasks like extracting data from documents, chasing payments and flagging cash flow gaps. In March 2026 Xero signed a multi-year partnership with Anthropic to bring Claude into Xero, and you can already connect Xero to Claude to ask questions about your numbers in plain language.
What Xero's push into Malaysia means for you
- Confidence: Xero is putting money, product and people into Malaysia. This isn't a global tool that happens to be available here.
- Compliance covered: e-invoicing and SST are handled in the software you use every day.
- Room to grow: start on Lite, scale to Premium, and open a company in Singapore or Australia on the same platform.
- Help nearby: a growing network of certified Malaysian Xero partners and local apps.
